The Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit) is characterised by its low-slung body and shaggy coat – in fact, its name translates as small, low, shaggy dog.

Like its Grand cousin, it was originally a pack hound and as such, this breed enjoys the company of other dogs and animals. It is also full of energy and has boundless stamina, and will relish long walks or runs. As with other hounds, this breed benefits from early training to get the best out of it. Although active, this Basset also enjoys pottering about with the family at home and makes a wonderful companion. The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen may be small but you will definitely notice its presence, as this little dog is full of character and intelligence and can be quite the extrovert.
