The Bolognese is a member of the Bichon family. This breed is small and sturdy, with a distinctive white flock.
Perfect as a companion dog, this dog loves its family to whom it will be devoted, and should not be left alone for long periods of time. Not overly active, the Bolognese will still enjoy little outings and lots of playtime at home. Its soft white coat is non-shedding but requires regular grooming.
History
The Bolognese takes its name from the north Italian city, Bologna, where it was developed as early as the 11th century. It became greatly valued and immensely popular amongst the nobility during the Renaissance, but as the nobility died out so too did the breed, and it was just a handful of breeders in Italy who helped to keep the breed alive and regain its former popularity.
