The Bavarian Mountain Hound is a cent hound developed to track down wounded game on steep mountain slopes.

As such, it is agile and athletic with acute scenting ability. This breed is also calm and balanced, easy to train and self-assured. He enjoys the company of his human family, although can be somewhat reserved with strangers.

History

It is thought that this breed is descended from the Hanoverian Hound, a small German Bloodhound. It was developed as a smaller more agile dog that could specifically track down injured game in difficult-to-reach mountainous regions.
